I am a theoretical physicist working in the fields of condensed matter and quantum physics.

I am employed by CNRS as a research director (directeur de recherche) at Laboratoire de Physique Théorique de la Matière Condensée (LPTMC, Sorbonne Université, Paris) since 2017. From 2012 to 2017, I was a CNRS researcher (chargé de recherche) at LPTMC.

From 2004 to 2012, I was an assistant-prof (maître de conférences) at Université Paris-Sud working in the theory group of the Laboratoire de Physique des Solides (LPS, Université Paris-Sud, Orsay). I am still a regular visitor there.

Research

 

My field of research is condensed matter theory. More specific interests: Cold atomic gases. Spin waves. Graphene and more generally Dirac fermions in condensed matter systems. Quantum Hall effect. Berry (geometrical) phases and band theory. Topological insulators. Orbital magnetism. Semiclassical techniques. Quasicrystals. Hofstadter butterfly. Anyons.

Teaching

 

From 2004 to 2012, I was an assistant-professor (maître de conférences) at Université Paris-Sud teaching wave physics, quantum mechanics, statistical physics, solid state physics, broken symmetries and statistical field theory, condensed matter field theory, physics for 1st year medical studies, etc.

 

From 2013 to 2018, I have been teaching a course, together with Giuliano Orso, on ``Symmetries and quantum field theory" at the Master 2 Concepts Fondamentaux de la Physique (ICFP) in the ``quantum physics'' speciality. Here are a few documents for the course:
